Save Ralphs Bay events – starting with a forum this Wednesday March 11th

It’s time for action - Help us to save Ralphs Bay!

*COMMUNITY FORUMS*

Save Ralphs Bay Inc. will be holding a Community Forum at the Lauderdale Hall, this Wednesday, March 11th at 7.30pm. There will be speakers, information on the impacts of the proposed development and the opportunity for you to ask questions.

There will be a second community forum at Calverton Hall, South Arm, on Sunday March 15th at 2.30pm.

*RALLY IN CITY HALL*

We will host a major SRB public RALLY in the City Hall on Tuesday 17th March, 12.30 - 1.30pm. Speakers include Dr. Peter Hay, UTAS, Cassy O’Connor MHA and Dr. Eric Woehler of Birds Tasmania.

Click here (http://www.saveralphsbay.org/pdf/ShopPoster.pdf) to download a poster to print out and put up on a noticeboard in your workplace.

As it happens, the Rally is our fifth birthday, since Save Ralphs Bay Inc. was formed following a public meeting at the Lauderdale Hall on March 17th 2004. We invite you to join us to mark this special anniversary.

Please try to attend the community forums if you live in the local area, and please mark the Rally date in your diary and be there for the bay!

*SUBMISSIONS*

You can help to stop this proposed development by making a submission to the RPDC before the deadline of 4.30pm on April 6th. Find the RPDC’s mail and email addresses at http://www.rpdc.tas.gov.au/poss/lauderdale_quay/whats_new.

Anyone can make a written submission to the RPDC.  It doesn’t have to be long or technical.  It can be as simple as a letter or email outlining your concerns.

However, if you would like to read part or all of Walker Corp’s Draft Integrated Impact Statement, the Executive Summary is easy reading and only contains 28 pages of text.  Click here (http://www.ralphsbay.net.au/DIIS.asp) for the Executive Summary.

The DIIS itself is the size of a novel – 415 pages.  Follow the links from http://www.saveralphsbay.org to see the DIIS.  You might like to read the sections that especially interest you.

You have probably heard that the IIS is almost 7000 pages long – this is because there are over 6000 pages of appendices, but these are written for experts, and there is no need for the general public to attempt to read them.

Thank you for all your support!  Please forward this email to your friends.

We look forward to seeing many of you at our Community Forums, and, especially at our RALLY on March 17th.
