A group of Sydney musicians has put together a band called Wild Things to record a song supporting the campaign to save Tasmania’s Ralphs Bay.

Save Ralphs Bay spokesperson, Cassy O’Connor said the band was donating the proceeds of its song, “Talkin’ Hands Off Ralphs Bay King Canute’s Blues” to the Save Ralphs Bay campaign.

“ It’s a mystery but a pleasant one”, Ms O’Connor said. “The CDs and some lyric sheets arrived in the mail with a note saying it was the band’s contribution to our campaign. They say they’re angry because this kind of development has been already banned in Sydney.

They say they can’t believe developers would be allowed to ruin such a beautiful, environmentally important place. They say they know lots of people who oppose the development, but they have to stay silent. They can’t afford to risk their jobs.”

“ Obviously the band knows and cares about our campaign and the issues that are concerning us. I’m guessing they are expat Tasmanians or have friends or family here. Who knows?”

“ It’s a great song and we’ll be sending copies to the media in Tasmania, on the mainland and overseas”, Ms O’Connor said.

“ We’ll have copies for sale for a $5 donation to help fund our campaign, and it can also be downloaded from our website. We can be contacted on 0400 628 939 or at http://www.saveralphsbay.org

For the bay . . . for your Tasmanian coastline . . .
