“The migratory shorebirds are on their way south from the Siberian Arctic.  Many of our red-necked stints have already reached Broome in the far north of Western Australia, and they will start to arrive at Ralphs Bay towards the end of this month.  Their epic migration is an incredible story, and we are pledged to ensure that their feeding grounds on the Ralphs Bay sandflats will still be there next spring, the following year and on into the future”, said SRB spokeswoman, Berry Dunston.
“Signs of Spring are all around us.  The spotted handfish are out there, safely beneath the waters of Ralphs Bay, spawning right now and we intend to make sure they are never disturbed by bulldozing and dredging in the bay.”
The Ralphs Bay Spring Fair will include information displays on the Ralphs Bay saltmarsh, the shorebirds, diving opportunities, the underwater world of the bay and the Save Ralphs Bay campaign.

A photographic competition with prizes for all age groups will be judged by a “balance of power” coalition of judges from the three Tasmanian political parties:  Ross Butler MHA, Cassy O’Connor MHA and endorsed Liberal candidate David Compton.
Other attractions include a sausage sizzle; “mug o’ soup” - delicious home made soup in a Ralphs Bay keepsake mug; face painting, balloon art, hooping and other children’s activities run by a qualified entertainer; raffle of a beautiful Ralphs Bay watercolour by Tina Terry; children’s raffle of dolls house miniatures and “Ralphs Bay Ted”; SRB merchandise; cakes, plants, books etc.
