Report from Hobart Airport - 15km NE of Ralphs Bay
Temperature: 12°C (54°F)
As the Walker Corporation reveals its latest plan for the destruction of the sandflats of the Ralphs Bay Conservation Area, Save Ralphs Bay Inc. presents the alternative vision.
The 2009 Ralphs Bay calendar will be officially launched today by MHA’s Nick McKim and Cassy O’Connor and Save Ralphs Bay Inc. Chair, Bill Edmunds.
Representatives of the media are invited to meet at the Save Ralphs Bay Inc.
stall outside the gates of the Lauderdale Football Club at 12.15pm.
While the Walker Corporation offers the bulldozing of critical feeding and roosting habitat for our shorebirds, the Ralphs Bay calendar presents the alternative view - uninterrupted vistas across Ralphs Bay, and wildlife peacefully unaware of the threat to their habitat.
Save Ralphs Bay Inc. needs substantial funds to stand up to Walker in the RPDC, during the assessment of the Corporation’s proposal to replace the sandflats of the Ralphs Bay Conservation Area with Tasmania’s first ever Gold-Coast style canal estate.
The calendar is our major fundraiser, and we hope for your support in promoting it at today’s launch.
Save Ralphs Bay Inc. will have a stall outside the gates of the Football Club, with information, our Comments Book to gather the thoughts of visitors, and fundraising merchandise for sale - especially our 2009 calendars.
