COMMUNITY SAYS RALPHS BAY IS NOT ON THE MARKET

After six months active campaigning, Save Ralphs Bay Incorporated has delivered the results of its own community consultation on the Walker Corporation proposal for an 800 home canal housing estate in the Ralphs Bay Conservation Area.

More than 2500 letters and personal comments, along with a sheaf of petition forms, and our formal submission were presented to Environment and Planning Minister Judy Jackson at Parliament House today.

SRB Inc urges Premier Lennon, Minister Jackson and their parliamentary colleagues to read the comments written by the citizens of Lauderdale and far beyond.  Here is a selection:

RALPHS BAY COMMUNITY SURVEY CONDEMNS WALKER PLAN

The results of Senator Paul Calvert’s survey of eastern shore residents confirm what Save Ralphs Bay Inc has said since March this year – that community opposition is strong, and that people value their bay over monstrous corporate profits to be made by the likes of Walker Corporation at the expense of Tasmania’s unspoiled coastline. . .

F.O.I. letter reveals ‘IN-PRINCIPLE’ commitment to sell Ralphs Bay crown land to Walker Corp

Save Ralphs Bay Inc is extremely disappointed the State Government was not more up-front with the peninsula community about what steps had already been taken to progress the Walker proposal.  Correspondence released this week under F.O.I. reflects poorly on the transparency of the process, and raises questions over whether the government has dug itself into a big, potentially costly, pit over Ralphs Bay . . .
